I had a job interview two weeks ago this Wednesday. He called me back for a second interview last Tuesday. He took me out to lunch last Wednesday and presented me with a conditional job offer (a great offer, by the way), conditional on a credit and background check. I gave him the information the same day in order to get things moving quickly. Thursday I had to go to Fargo for a day trip. When I got back Thursday night I find he had left a voicemail asking me to call him. All that night I was freaked out that there was a problem with something.
Called him back on Friday morning. Turns out he had asked for the wrong info for the background check and needed my driver's license number instead. Spoke with him late Friday afternoon and he informed me that it probably wouldn't be until Monday or Tuesday until we heard back from the home office. He said he was going to be in Idaho then but would take my home and work numbers with him to contact me as soon as he hears something. As of tonight (Tuesday) I have not heard boo from him.
Meanwhile, his desired starting date is June 6th. This means that two weeks notice would have been yesterday. If he calls tomorrow, and especially if he doesn't until Thursday, I'll mention that I am a little concerned about the starting date in light of giving two weeks notice to my current employer. Maybe the two weeks notice thing isn't the big deal that it used to be, but it still bothers me. I suppose I'd have to talk to my HR dept. to find out if there would be any repurcussions with a short notice of resignation.
I certainly wouldn't need two weeks to complete work in process or projects in process. I am kind of at a point where I have work caught up and need to start to hit the road again. And my employer doesn't advertise the job until the person is gone, so that wouldn't be an issue either.
All this causes me stress. I should be used to it, though, because hardly anything really goes smoothly.
I love you guys.
